I attended IAP's orientation last night.

I have to say, they have it more together than the IRS did (see the IRS orientation entry here) but you could tell that they suffered from home-officeitis. Nobody there really knew anything definite, and there was a lot of "we'll check on that for you" which does not inspire confidence.

I was more irritated by my fellow employees than by the IAP crew. Once again, nobody was listening, and those that were listening were apparently retarded. The same questions got asked roughly 8 thousand times. The answers never changed, but they kept being asked anyway.

The only points that I was not thrilled with were:

1. IAP (or more likely the new site manager) does not allow headphones on the premises. She does, however, think that radios with speakers are A-OK! Which means i'm going to be listening to a lot of country and rap. And it means that there will be enough fights over station selection that within a couple months we won't be able to listen to this stuff either. I plan on continuing to enjoy my ipod. Fuck em.

2. I will apparently be back in the mail team. I'm not sure exactly what I'll be doing, but there is only a couple jobs in the mail team that sucked, so I'll have to do my best to avoid those. it should be easy.

3. No beverages other than water on the work floor. This sucks a lot, as I am of the opinion that water is made for bathing and ice. I'm going to have to figure out some way to get around this one. I'm fairly sure there are clear sodas out there. I'll have to start stocking up.
