I called in sick today. Im not sick, but my car doesn't start and Im starting to really loathe going to the IRS anyway. My manager was just thrilled that I called at all- most of us quit calling weeks ago. After they moved night shift to dayshift they split us up into the various departments throughout the building. But we still kept all of our crap (timesheets, etc) in the old department. Which means that the managers of our old department don't know if we're here, and the managers of the new departments don't know if we're here. It was conjectured that we could just cease showing up at all and nobody would know. This has since been proven true. As far as I know, no one has claimed to have worked time they were not here, as that will get you fired if anyone somehow finds out. But many people have just failed to come in and adjusted their timesheets the next day to reflect that. Nobody has a clue.

A lot more crap with IAP. There is now a sexual harassment suit (several actually) flying around. Apparently one of the recruiters whom IAP hired to do the interviewing was making innappropriate comments towards some of the female interviewees. Or, at the very least, not talking about anything related to the job. I've heard several different stories from different people, but largely it seems to have centered around Myspace (do you have a myspace account? I do. would you add me to your friends?) What their family lives are like at home. (Do you still live at home with your parents?) and things like that. Some of them said he didn't even bother with their resumes. Some of this is valid, I think, and some isn't. It is true that he apparently no longer works for the company, and it is true that 95% of the people they hired were female. But those two items could be completely unrelated. The majority of the people who work at the IRS building now are female, so this isn't too terribly damning. But the lawsuits charge on ahead anyway.

I have yet to recieve a phonecall from IAP, so it looks as though I didn't get hired. This was a surprise to me, but i've been talking to a lot of people at work, and there are many who are far more qualified than me who didn't get hired either, so I don't feel too bad about it. Im pretty sure that makes me a bad person, but that was never really in question anyway. I think a lot of these lawsuits are from people who felt they should have been hired and weren't. Im a little disappointed, IAP hired some of the people I trained to fill the Lead positions. But I don't think I screwed up the interview, and my resume looks like a corporate wet dream. So Im pretty sure it wasn't me. Im surprised that I didn't get the job, but I don't think I did anything wrong, so I don't feel too bad about it. It could be something as stupid as having this website even. Who knows. I've started applying for IRS jobs instead. The government has been good to me. My only problem with working another IRS job is that the next building not taken over by IAP is about 30 minutes away, and pretty close to downtown [city]. And I hate traffic.
