At the end of this month, I go back to dayshift, back into the Mail department. Or as I like to call it: The Maw of Eternal Suffering.
At the end of next month, I'll be essentially out of a job.
I've applied with the new guys. Im not sure what the pay is though. They are apparently hiring 90% of us to do the same shit we do right now, which, when you break it down, is all kinds of funny:
1. The irs finds out that it has to bid on its own work and pulls out all of the perm and career employees in the building and replaces them with us, temps, in order to save costs and try to beat the bid.
2. We recieve little-to-no training, since nobody is really left to train us. We muddle through as best we can.
3. The IRS loses the bid on its own work and the new company hires all of us currently working temps to be their staff, making us permanent.
4. Which means that the total sum of this whole process is to remove all the people who knew the job and replace them with us. That is the only change to come about from this whole thing, as far as I can tell.
