Nothing new and stupid today. Still a lot of confusion at work. No information yet. Rumors are flying though. Some members of management have apparently been telling people that the chances of them getting hired by the new guys are very good. Which is probably true, but around here, when a manager says something, it becomes written in stone, and usually comes up later as something completely unintended. My guess is, by the end of next week, people will be absolutely sure that they will have a job with the new company, based on this little bit of rumor. But like I said, logically its probably true. The new company will need to hire employees, unless they intend to bus people in [from mexico... ok, that was the last one, I swear, I know its getting old] and logically they would hire the people with "experience." Which is us. I guess. But the way I look at it, they had to outbid the IRS somehow, and if the IRS was staffing all of their service centers with Temps, and if their game plan called for eventually putting most of us on "intermittant employment" after we got them caught up... what does that mean the new company's plan is? It has to somehow save more money than THAT. Which leads me to believe that they'll be paying minimum wage, or something close to it. Or, alternatively, they'll cut the staff down to half of what it is now. Those are the only two options, as far as I can see. How else could they beat the IRS' bid? I've been digging through the intranet trying to find specifics on the bids, but of course, as horrible as the intranet security is, the higher ups won't leave that lying around. Still nothing at all on the employee intranet site, as we were promised. But of course its only been a few days. I've seen these people try and use powerpoint, I can only imagine their mad html skillz.
