There is a "unit" within our "team" made up of a couple nice older ladies who handle routing all the mail to the various IRS buildings within our district.
Recently, they were told that they were no longer allowed to staple things.
Apparently stapeling things is too slow.
Of course, this means that when the newly routed mail gets to the team who actually SENDS this shit out, its a stack of 400 loose documents, some of which go together and some of which do not.
And inevitably, at the end of the sorting process, you are left holding one sheet of paper that has no cover sheet, which means you need to spend a goddamn hour trying to figure out where it goes. Its the biggest fucking time saver i've EVER heard of! hurray!
The irony here is that we have electronic staplers. You get a handful of documents, and you shove em up into the stapler, it whirs for about half a second, and then you're done.
Glad we don't have to spend THAT crazy time anymore on useless stapling.
